Stockholm (AINA) -- Assyrians living in Sweden gathered Tuesday outside the parliament in Stockholm protesting against the decimation of their nation in Iraq (
report) and demanding that the Nineveh Plains in northern Iraq become administered by Assyrians.
Members of various Swedish political parties showed their support and delivered speeches to the crowd, acknowledging that the only viable solution to the forced exodus of Assyrians from Iraq is the creation of an Assyrian administered area in the Nineveh Plains. The protest was in response to the murder of several Assyrians in the last few weeks, including a bishop from the Chaldean church.
