A Christian Neighborhood in Baghdad
January 12. 2007
Following are pictures of a Christian neighborhood in Baghdad
sent by Ian Glover a major in the US Marine corp stationed in that city. Only recently he was made aware that there were still some christian communities in Baghdad. He took these pictures of the churches as he was being driven around the city and sent them to his Christian family who would be interested in seeing them. He also decided to send them to the editor of the christiansofiraq.com when he searched and found the site.
He writes: "It wasn't until yesterday that I took my first picture of an Iraqi christian neighborhood. As we drove through eastern Baghdad, we went through a neighborhood and as we drove one of my interpreters (a shia) said, "We are in a christian neighborhood". I said, "How do you know?" and he replied, "Because they dress differently and the neighborhood is clean." Good story I thought."
There are two large christian churches in a neighborhood called, "Karrad" that we pass routinely and I will also be taking pictures of them. I hope you are doing well and get some enjoyment out of the picture.
God bless you.
