The assassination of a Christian citizen
in the city of Mosul

Ankawa.com

Elias Aziz Abdul Aziz died yesterday, Saturday evening, April 4, in his workshop where he repaired generators for the new connector. He was shot to death, by an unidentified gunmen, and fell as martyr. He was buried in a cemetery in lorries. The Christian community on Sunday also recalled the death of the blind son of Tima, and prayers were said for the second and third day of his death at the Cathedral of Mar Afram, where he led a prayer for the Bishop of Mosul at the Assyrian Orthodox Church.

The martyr Abdul Aziz was known to all for his good qualities and was loved by many. He specialized in the repair of heavy machinery, especially generators.

christiansofiraq.com comment:

Christians of Iraq are killed on daily basis specifically because of their Christian religion or ethnicity but the Iraqi government does nothing to protect them, and the international community yawns and looks the other way. Such random killings are intended to terrorize the entire community and to let it know that its members can be killed with impunity but there will be no one to protect them so that they should leave behind whatever they have and flee to another country, as more than 300,000 of them already have done so. At this rate in near future Iraq will be emptied of its Christian population. If every day muslims were killed in any non Muslim country because of their religion or race the whole world would have been in uproar. The governemnts who would have allowed these crimes to go unpunished rightly would have been branded as criminals, bigotted and guilty of crimes against humanity, but when it happens to Christians in Iraq no one seem to care. It seems like all the talk about human rights and freedom to practice religion applies only to the Muslims but not to the non muslims living in Muslim countries.

Devout Muslims often take pride in quoting a common phrase in Koran which says: "Besmellah o al rahman al raheem" which means "In the name of the Allah who is kind and compassionate." While Allah is compassionate those who believe in him seem not to have compassion for no one else but themselves. One has to wonder whom they are trying to fool, the Allah or the rest of the humanity? Seems like hypocrisy in both the East and the West abounds.
